Villa Hügel

The scenically inspiring Villa Hügel, situated at the heights of the Ruhr area above Lake Baldeney, was designed by industrial pioneer Alfred Krupp himself and constructed from 1870 to 1873. Apart from being the Krupp families private dwelling, the Villa was also to present the Krupp organisation. Caesars and kings, heads of government and politicians from a host of nations have been guests here. Villa Hügel is the starting point for the themed route "Krupp and the City of Essen", "Company Vilas in the Ruhr Area“, "The Myth of the Ruhr Area" and the white fleet. www.villahuegel.de
